These Celtic-style heavy spearmen, while reminiscent of the Pedites Gallorum, actually carry what is known to the Romans as a lancea, a spear that is longer and heavier than the Celtic gaisos, making them even more destructive against cavalry, but somewhat unwieldly if used against infantry. The reach and sheer strength of their weapons makes charging these men with spear infantry or cavalry a suicidal prospect, but the unwieldliness of their weapons means that units such as axe or sword infantry will have a field day if pitted against them.
